Nursing Registration

Nurses must be registered with the relevant local nursing body for the state in Australia that they are going to work in. Each state has its own Nurses Regulatory Authority. For Nurses looking to work in Brisbane, Queensland, you can request a registration pack from the Queensland Nursing Council.

Language skills assesed

The Australian Nursing Council (ANC) has mandated a policy that requires all nurses working in Australia must have a level of proficiency in English to allow them to communicate safely and competently with clients and other medical professionals. Typically this requires an English language proficiency test, but this test is not required where a nurse's education leading to registration was completed in the United Kingdom. To ensure a nurse does not have to undergo the English language test, you must provide evidence that your nursing education was delivered in English (theoretical and clinical practice).

Valid Police Check

All Nurses must have completed a Police Check to be eligible to work in Australia. For Nurses travelling from the UK, a criminal record check is required. This can be obtained from your local Police Station.
